64 bit Linux / FreeBSD Flash Player exists

I just watched Tinic from the Flash Player team demo two 64bit versions of Flash Player 10 here at FlashForward. One on Unbunu Linux and the other running on FreeBSD. Tinic also showed a 32bit version of the FreeBSD player. At this point however, there if no solid plan for release.

I do - without it, i could not watch the news/magazines/etc. of our german public broadcaster ARD (like the BBC) that I have to pay fees for. They simply to don't use any free codec (WMV and such stuff), so the only more or less legal way to watch these videos is flash.

randomname via the old blog says ... "Unbunu Linux" ? Wow!
I guess the whole original post is a hoax, since the poster does not even know the spelling of the name of such a major linux distribution - Ubuntu Linux.

That, or he knows nothing about Linux in general. Most Adobe engineers do not, and it has become pretty evident during all these years we 64bit users are waiting for a proper version of flash.

Right! As expected!

Alex Bustin via the old blog says ... I sent it from my iPod numb nuts .. I made typos .. deal with it .. too lazy to correct it for the entitled Linux users. :P

Also, I'm a Sony engineer .. not an Adobe engineer.. dur! I saw the demo just as everyone did who went to the FlashForward conference.

Come on people .. give Adobe a break .. they are clearly working on it.

Yeah because typos usually indicate a lack of knowledge as opposed to poor or hurried typing.

Give the guy a break.

Josh via the old blog says ... Sweet!!! Now maybe they can have "real" flash ubiquity! I have to admit my fondness for macromedia ... and now after much doubts I am starting to really like Adobe. They seem to be noticing the rapid adoption rate of linux are fully preparing to ride the wave and give flash devs a truly cross platform flash to work with! Long live flash ... silverlight die!!

Jeremiah via the old blog says ... Many people will be excited by the possibility of 64 bit Flash. Any insight if ARM4 and/or Power PC will be supported any time soon?

Jason via the old blog says ... HAhahahahahah come on people give Adobe a break they are working on it LMAO LMAO
its clear that Adobe has not made it top priority to get us a 64 bit Flash Player.
How do I know this.....?????
well lets see, lets look at all the other programs that have made it top priority to support 64 bit....
Also lets look at um..... 64 Bit has been out now 3-4 years if not longer... How long should it take.....
Sounds like Blizzard on Star Craft LMAO
We'll get a 64 bit Flash player but Adobe dont give a $hit.

skottish via the old blog says ... I truly appreciate the fact that Adobe and the Mozilla Foundation are working on this. I would like to throw an idea out though: let us test it.
