Ads on BBC News Website: The Sky Is Falling
As many of you know, I’m a British guy living in San Francisco. And I try to visit the BBC News website daily for my mainstream news, as I feel it delvers the most impartial news around.
The BBC is wonderful service. In the UK, in return for paying a TV Tax (TV License - people love to bitch about it) you get a number of TV and Radio stations that are completely free of ads. No ads what so ever.. zip!
Well imagine my shock today to see this …
This is very weird.
I just tried bbc.co.uk and news.bbc.co.uk, both UK and International versions and there are no ads… not only that, but the design is a little different as I see a small BBC logo on top left instead of the large “bbc.co.uk” text in your screenshot.
